Monitoring the Progress of your Chiropractic Treatment

Progress Visits
It’s impossible to predict how you will respond to chiropractic care. Everyone is different. We’ll have a better idea after a few visits.
If you have had symptoms for more than 3 months, we will often carry out a progress exam at an agreed period of time.
Only then can we make a more accurate prediction about what it will take to complete your recovery and what will be needed to help you stay well. If for some reason you are not improving, then we may decide to use a different approach or refer you for further investigations.
Rest assured that our main aim is to get you back to health in the fastest time possible and stay that way!
A Brief Reexamination
We'll first ask you how much improvement you feel you have gained in terms of your symptoms or performance. We’ll then conduct several of the tests we performed on your first visit. This will give us a way to compare where you are, in relation to where you were. Obviously, this is essential for plotting a more accurate plan for future care.
The Danger
About the time of your progress visit many patients are feeling significantly better. They’re often tempted to discontinue their care. And of course, how long you benefit from chiropractic is always up to you. What we often have noticed is that a relapse is more common if you discontinue care before supporting muscles and ligaments are fully healed. That’s something that happens after symptoms disappear. At this stage we may recommend more exercises for you to do at home or in some cases suggest a course of rehabilitation. This has also been suggested by recent research. Just let us know your goals on your initial visit, so that we can help you achieve them.
